Marvel Movie Casting: Namorita

Namorita (Age: 57/immortal; height: 6'1"): Clone of Namor's cousin, Namora, she is a hybrid of human and Atlantean blood. After birth, her "father" was killed and she was eventually taken by one of Namor's enemies, and fed lies to gain her trust. Once meeting Namor, they faced off twice, battling on both land and sea, until she discovered they were cousins. She has since become an ally to Namor and a prominent member of the New Warriors.

Abbey Lee Kershaw (Age: 28; height: 5'11"; credits: Mad Max: Fury Road, Ruben Guthrie): When I chose to cast Namorita, I was inspired by the idea of how the Elves were often cast in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, relying on otherworldly appearances. I wanted it to be clear she wasn't a creature of land, and I felt Abbey Lee Kershaw fit the almost alien-like appearance I wanted. I've known of her because of her modeling career for as long as I have followed the fashion industry, and then made her acting debut in Mad Max: Fury Road, where she played The Dag, one of the Five Wives, and my personal favorite of the Wives. She gave a fantastic performance, giving her character the proper nuances to give a character that could've fallen flat, absolute life. I then saw her in Ruben Guthrie, purely out of curiosity to see what else she could do, and gave another great performance, playing Zoya, an Australian model, leaving the lead character because of his heavy drinking problems. She is set to play an assassin in Gods of Egypt and a youth/beauty obsessed murderer in The Neon Demon, so she is no stranger to stunt work and fantasy. I am betting she'd be willing to put in the necessary work for this part. I am completely enamored by her, and with her gaining so many roles and popularity in recent months, even being rumored to take on DC's Black Canary in the upcoming Justice League film, I think she'd be the perfect actress for the part.
