Description

PLOT: After a decade of service as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, Major Carol Danvers is recruited by a division known as SWORD. Specializing in extraterrestrial threats, SWORD hires Carol as a pilot and field agent, serving as a partner to the enigmatic agent Walter Lawson. When commissioned by the Nova Corp to protect the Power Stone, it's revealed SWORD's head of weapons development, George Tarleton, is a double agent for the redeveloped science program agency, AIM. Tarleton's mission is to use the stone's hidden abilities to develop weapons that would finally make AIM the world's largest crime organization, and a lynchpin in all terrorist syndicates. However, when a figure from Walter Lawson's past attacks SWORD's base, Carol is caught in the crossfire of an explosion. Shielded by Lawson, Carol's body is altered in the explosion when the Power Stone taps into Lawson's true form's DNA, fusing Carol's body with alien genetics. Revealing Lawson is a member of the alien nation known as the Kree, Carol discovers her body has newfound abilities, and will have to tap into these powers if she wants to stop AIM from their ultimate plan. Unbeknownst to SWORD, Tarleton was caught in the Power Stone's radiation as well, creating a monster out of a once-great engineer's body.

THE CAST:

1.) Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel: Brie Larson (Age: 26; height: 5'7"; credits: Room, Trainwreck, Short Term 12, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The Gambler): Now officially cast as our Captain Marvel, my all-time favorite comic book character, she has my full support. I believe she is one of the best actors for this role, if not the smartest choice for Marvel to go with. She can handle Carol's snarkier lines, forming a career heavily based in comedy, while also being able to handle the intensity needed for the drama. Room alone proves she can handle this role with absolute precision. After training, she will be spot-fucking-on for Captain Marvel in every way. Her age is also NOT an issue. She could realistically be a Major in the Air Force, still outranking Captain America, seeing as Carol enlisted at 18, and Brie Larson will be 28-29 while filming. You need 10 years of service to become a Major, and that works out perfectly for Larson's age.

2.) Walter Lawson/Mar-Vell/Captain Marvel: Alexander Skarsgård (Age: 39; height: 6'4"; credits: The Legend of Tarzan, The Diary of a Teenage Girl, True Blood, Melancholia): I've altered Mar-Vell's history for the sake of Carol's origin to fit into the already existing MCU, while also keeping the heart of the original story crafted for Carol. Instead of posing as a scientist, he would be an ex Kree spy, now under the guise of a SWORD field agent. I wanted to keep Mar-Vell's classic majesty and stature, and I felt Alexander was the exact person needed. Like Captain America, Mar-Vell is meant to fit the mold of the classic superhero archetype, and if Skarsgård doesn't fit the bill, I'm not sure who does. He commands the screen with ease, and I think he'd give an impactful performance.

3.) Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman: Jessica Brown Findlay (Age: 26; height: 5'6"; credits: Downton Abbey, Albatross, Victor Frankenstein, Winter's Tale): It only made sense to include Captain Marvel's best friend and confidant! Jessica Drew, in my version, would be a SWORD agent who was recruited from SHIELD because of her skills as a spy and combatant. I would like her origin as a spy for HYDRA touched on, and include her feelings of isolation because of her past and even present day work. Jessica Brown Findlay felt like the right choice for Spider-Woman because of her natural charisma on screen. She is captivating, talented as hell, and can deliver one damn good performance. With stunt training, I think she'd be perfect next to Brie Larson's Captain Marvel.

4.) Monica Rambeau/Spectrum: Emayatzy Corinealdi (Age: 36; height: 5'7; credits: Middle of Nowhere, Roots, The Invitation): In the MCU version, I see Monica Rambeau as an ex cop from New Orleans and seasoned agent of SHIELD. After being exposed to harmful energies, her body became living energy, and gave her the ability to control any form of energy within the electromagnetic field. Fearing herself and the vastness of her powers, she requested a desk job as a tactician and strategist expert, causing her to be moved to SWORD's station. I want to see Monica as a cautious woman who must learn to trust herself and her powers after years of sitting on the sideline. Emayatzy Corinealdi is a star waiting to happen. She is a strong talent and presence, with the ability to portray such raw emotions so easily. I could see her bringing a strength to a more demure Monica Rambeau, that could grow into full heroics.

5.) Abigail Brand: Maggie Q (Age: 37; height: 5'6"; credits: Nikita, Mission: Impossible 3, Divergent, Priest): Abigail Brand, like in the comics, would be the half-alien, half-human director of SWORD. She is a brash, bold woman who is willing to speak her mind and put you in place. She is the perfect leader. An expert with a gun, she isn't afraid of battle and getting her hands dirty. I chose Maggie Q partly because I wanted a more diverse cast, but also because she fits this world like no other. Her entire career is action packed, and she is no stranger to a franchise. She is a wonderful leader, as proven in Nikita, and I think she could totally work the green hair. She's also no stranger to the comic book world, voicing Wonder Woman in the Young Justice animated series.

6.) George Tarleton/M.O.D.O.K.: David Hyde Pierce (Age: 57; height: 5'9"; credits: Hellboy, Frasier, Treasure Planet, The Good Wife, Nixon): George Tarleton, as already stated, would be a weapons engineer for SWORD and double agent, secretly working with AIM. After the explosion, it would be the Power Stone that gives him his psionic abilities and AIM would piece his body back together, creating the monstrous creation of M.O.D.O.K. I chose Pierce heavily based on his voice work. The man is a honestly a genius. Someone with his instinct and delivery, someone who can tap into humor and wickedness, is what is needed here. M.O.D.O.K. needs to be a villain you know is evil, but has an insanity behind his ingenuity, or he just does not work. I believe Pierce can bring just that, and work well in the line of villains Marvel has pieced together already.

I must say both of these posts you made with "Captain Marvel" casting choices are awesome. The only one I'm slightly iffy on is Skarsgård as Mar-Vell but that's mostly because I've always liked Ewan McGregor for that role.

With Marvel's habit of casting a or a couple of big name actors in their films do you think that Brie and Alexander would be big enough names too market? That's always been part of my thinking behind fancasting Ewan for the Mar-Vell role as well.
