Description

THE PLOT: Top assassin, secret agent and Avenger, Natasha Romanoff, has lived a life plagued with death, serving her youth and growth into adulthood as a top assassin for the Red Room. Since, she has gone from top agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., until it was disbanded, leaving her identity out to the open. When a mission to take out a savage Russian monk, out for the blood of sinners, she finds he is linked to the Red Room. She must face the shadows of her past, going up against past rivaled Widow, Yelena Belova. Her mission becomes to bring the Red Room down. However, it is discovered the memories of her life before S.H.I.E.L.D. were almost completely false, discovering her mind was destroyed and built back up through psycho-technological therapy. She has been a weapon of murder for almost as long as Captain America was frozen, serving beside the Winter Soldier, realizing the Red Room is a direct head of Hydra. She recruits Bucky Barnes and Monica Chang, an ex KGB agent, to join her battle against those who burned their lives to the ground.

1.) Alexei Shostakov: Danila Kozlovsky (Age: 30; credits: Vampire Academy, Soulless): Alexei Shostakov is a product of the KGB, once being the partner of Natasha. He is techno-psychologically enhanced to be fast and stronger than a regular human. I chose Danila Kozlovsky because he is Russian, having worked in English cinema as well. He is no stranger to roles that would involve heavy training, and I think, especially behind his critically acclaimed work in Soulless, he would be exactly what's needed for this version of Alexei.

2.) Clint Barton/Hawkeye: Jeremy Renner (Age: 45; credits: Thor, The Avengers series; Captain America: Civil War): Clint would be more of a cameo, or the size of Emily VanCamp's Agent 13 in The Winter Soldier, being just a bit larger than a cameo. I'd like to see him used as Black Widow's confidant and friend, and let Bucky take lead here. But Hawkeye is needed in some capacity.

3.) Nicky Fury: Samuel L. Jackson (Age: 67; credits: basically the entire MCU): Nick Fury has been part of Natasha's whole character arc in the MCU, so he is a necessity to telling her story. He would be used in flashbacks, and almost a fatherly figure to her.

4.) Maria Hill: Cobie Smulders (Age: 33; credits: The Avengers series; Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.): Maria has been criminally underused, so her addition, especially with the role she has played in Black Widow's latest solo series, felt right to me. I see her as Stark's employee, working as head of security, and giving out missions for Natasha to take on. I'd also love for Cobie to get an actual fight scene too.

5.) Director: Denis Villeneuve (Credits: Sicario, Prisoners, Enemy): Denis Villeneuve's last three projects have completely shined, reaching critical acclaim and even receiving multiple awards and nominations, such as an Academy Award. His eye and sense of story would allow for the best film to be made, especially when it comes to handling these more psychologically imbalanced characters. Sicario proved he could handle explosive battles and a female lead, and I do think that is an essential trait needed for this project.

6.) Screenwriter(s): Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America trilogy, Thor: The Dark World, You Kill Me): As the screenwriters for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, being the best portrayal of Black Widow so far, I felt these writers understand exactly what's needed for her character, and how to handle her murky past and present as a trained killer. They are phenomenal at balancing the action/thriller and comedic tones, and with their handle on espionage and politics, I thought they'd be exactly what was needed for a standalone Black Widow film.

Interesting story premise and also a pretty cool sounding cast of characters both old and new. Denis Villeneuve is one of the rising new voices today who's films are getting better and better and I agree he definitely could helm the Black Widow film after his work on Sicario. One addition to the cast I would make though is I don't know if you've seen Agent Carter but if you have I would say give Bridget Regan a cameo as Dottie Underwood be it as an older version who's still alive in the modern day (with the cancellation of Agent Carter and Season 2's cliffhanger ending where she's still at large her character's fate is up in the air right now at the time I'm writing this) or as a younger version meeting Natasha in the flashbacks of the Red Room that will probably continue to appear in this film. Good job on this. I recently discovered your page and I like what you've been doing so far. It's inspired me to maybe tackle ideas like this myself. Looking forward to more.
